What my students say

I'm very happy to be one of Alonso's students. His teaching method is brilliant, and on top of that he is a wonderful human being.

Jaime Andrés Fernández C.

Excellent training. You can hear the experience in the way he teaches. As a student I was able to take on new challenges far more easily.

Juan Ricardo

The best teacher! Patient, and he knows how to pass on what he knows.

Juan Pablo Marín

I love the classes — thoroughly professional.

Jarana assistant

I have known Alonso for years — he was my flamenco cajón teacher, and today I have the pleasure of taking qanun classes with him. He is an extraordinary teacher: impeccable teaching, endless patience, and a passion for music that is catching in every class. Wholeheartedly recommended!

My story

A journey through sound, cultures and movement

It started almost without my noticing: I went along to my mother's rehearsals and sat watching how they played and how they danced. At fourteen I walked onto a stage for the first time with a flamenco cajón, alongside the group La Jarana.

I trained at the Universidad de Antioquia, in Spain and in Egypt, with masters of cajón, Arabic percussion and qanun. Today I am the musical director of La Jarana, the country's first flamenco-Arabic orchestra, and I have played in Mexico, the United States, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

I teach, I compose, and I am still studying: I am finishing a Master's in Arts with the research project Sonidos Danzantes.
